Chitkara University Hosts Stellar National Theatre Showcase Rangrezz 2024
Chitkara University came alive with creativity, passion, and energy as it hosted Rangrezz 2024: National Theatre Festival. The two-day event drew participation from 60 colleges across 20 cities, bringing together over 1,000 performers and attracting an enthusiastic audience of more than 10,000. The festival celebrated the transformative power of theatre, turning the campus into a vibrant hub of storytelling, artistry, and cultural exchange.
The festival began with a grand inaugural ceremony held in the Exploretorium. Hon’ble Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University, presided over the occasion, accompanied by the Chief Guest, renowned advertising and film director Subodh Poddar. A distinguished panel of judges, including industry veterans like Sweety Ruhel, Harleen Kohli, Surinder Kumar Narula, and others, lent their expertise and gravitas to the event.
Day one witnessed powerful performances that captivated audiences. The proscenium plays delivered compelling narratives, transporting the audience into vivid worlds of drama and emotion. Meanwhile, the Nukkad Nataks brought raw, unfiltered social realities to the forefront, resonating deeply with spectators in the Beta Zone. Zikr-e-Alfaz, an open mic session, provided a platform for storytellers and poets to weave words into unforgettable experiences.
The day concluded with a spectacular star night featuring the soulful voice of singer Prabh Gill. His performance electrified the atmosphere, leaving the audience spellbound and setting a perfect crescendo to an unforgettable first day.
Day two escalated the excitement with more enthralling performances. The Rangrezz Bazaar in the Omega Zone added a festive touch, showcasing stalls with carnival games, crafts, and culinary delights. Monologue and Fringe Theatre performances added depth to the festival, reflecting the intricate nuances of human experience. The Zero Ground buzzed with the lively activities of Zikr-e-Mauj and Zikr-e-Masti, where laughter and joy echoed through the crowds.
The festival culminated in a heartfelt Valedictory Ceremony. Hon’ble Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Chief Guest Subodh Poddar, and the esteemed judges awarded the winners, celebrating the exceptional talent and dedication displayed throughout the event. As night fell, DJ Ali Merchant’s electrifying beats transformed the closing ceremony into a vibrant celebration of unity and joy.
