Chitkara University Hosts State-Level Red Run Marathon for Social Causes

Chitkara University, Punjab, recently organised the “Red Run,” a state-level 5-kilometre marathon aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. The event, jointly orchestrated by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Department and the University Sports Board, brought together over 300 enthusiastic students, all running for a healthier and more informed future.

The marathon, which took place on a bright morning, saw not only the participation of Chitkara University students but also 35 students from G.S.S.S., Jansla. The Red Run exemplified the university’s deep-rooted commitment to community welfare, promoting important social causes through active engagement. The marathon’s start was signalled by Dr. S.C. Sharma, Registrar of Chitkara University, and Sh. Parminder Singh Goldi, Chairman of the Punjab Youth Development Board, who encouraged the participants to take on the symbolic challenge of combating societal issues with determination and resilience.

The event consisted of two laps around the campus, with each stride of the runners symbolising the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. As the race concluded, three exceptional participants were honoured with cash prizes of Rs. 6,000, Rs. 4000, and Rs. 2000, alongside trophies and certificates. The winners were celebrated for their remarkable achievements, both in the race and for their support of the important cause.

The marathon was graced by notable guests, including Kulwinder Singh, Assistant Director, Youth Services Punjab, and Pawan Rekha, Joint Director, Punjab State AIDS Control Society (PSACS), who were recognised for their invaluable contributions to the cause. Their presence underscored the collective commitment towards spreading awareness and promoting healthier lifestyles.
The Red Run was more than just a race; it was a call to action, encouraging students and the community to stand together against pressing social issues. Through this event, Chitkara University continues to inspire positive change and reinforce its commitment to the well-being of society.
