Chitkara University hosts National Environment Youth Parliament 2022

As the regional hosts of National Environment Youth Parliament-2022, Office of Student Affairs, Chitkara University, Punjab, conducted a group discussion at University Level as Round-1 on January 14th, 2022.

The National Environment Youth Parliament-2022 was organised by Manav Rachna University and was “A platform for intellectuals across the nation, to gather and discuss the measures for the protection of the environment.”

The topic for the group discussion was “Alternate sources of energy and India”. The participants gathered with their viewpoints and put forward their thoughts on the use of alternative energy sources. They efficiently answered the questions put to the house by the moderator. The discussion also revolved around various challenges for the shift towards renewable energy and how to overcome them. The discussion was a good start towards the conservation of the environment using innovative ideas.

The best speakers from this round proceeded to the regional level of NEYP-2022 for Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

The regional level of NEYP-2022 began by welcoming the dignitaries who graced the event with their presence. Dr. NC Wadhwa, Director General, Manav Rachna International University was the chief guest for the event. The event was also attended by Dr. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Dean, DSW, Manav Rachna International University; and Brig. Dr. PS Siwach, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab.

After welcoming the dignitaries, the judges for the day, Dr. Sumit Arora, Founder and President, APSWDP; and Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee, Ex Editor, The Tribune; were welcomed and introduced to the House.

Post the welcome ceremony, the Keynote Speaker of the day, Brig. Dr. P.S. Siwach addressed the attendees and spoke about how people are moving away from the ancient culture and disregarding the environment. Post the address, group discussion on the topic “Eco conservation through technology with special reference to artificial intelligence” began.

Participants discussed how technology, if used properly, can effectively help us in protecting the environment. The speakers also answered questions regarding challenges to overcome and the group discussion ended with closing statements from the participants.

After the group discussion, Dr. NC Wadhwa, Vice-Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University, Punjab, addressed the participants and congratulated them on the successful completion of the regional level. He also expressed his gratitude to Chitkara University for hosting this event on a regional level.
