Chitkara University hosts DD Kisan team to hold ‘Chaupal Charcha’ in adopted villages

Chitkara University hosted the Doordarshan India Kisan team to hold ‘Chaupal Charcha’; in Chitkara University adopted Villages in Rajpura – Ram Pur Baidwan, Fatehpur Garhi, Jhansla and Thuha; from December 5-7, 2019.

The ‘Chaupal Charcha’ in Chitkara University adopted Village Jhansla, Rajpura saw Chitkara University experts – Dr Nitin Saluja, Dr. Neelam Verma, Dr. Tarun Goel & Mr. Varinder Singh; and village farmers discussing Government of India Schemes – Soil Health Card & Crop Residue Management, promoted by the Dept. of Agriculture & Co-operation, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ministry. The program is scheduled to be telecast on December 10, 2019, at 9am.

The ‘Chaupal Charcha’ in Chitkara University adopted Village Fatehpur Garhi Rajpura saw experts – Dr Nitin Saluja, Dr. Neelam Verma, Mr Kamaljeet Singh; and village farmers discussing ‘Organic Farming’ – medium and long-term effect of agricultural interventions on the agro-ecosystem. The program is scheduled to be telecast on December 16, 2019, at 9am.

The ‘Chaupal Charcha’ in Chitkara University adopted Village Ram Pur Baidwan, Rajpura, saw experts – Dr Nitin Saluja, Dr Neelam Verma, Mr Varinder Singh; and village farmers discussing ‘Crop Residue Management’, a widely-used cropland conservation practice for wind and water erosion control. The program is scheduled to be telecast on December 17, 2019, at 9am IST.

Finally, the ‘Chaupal Charcha’ in Chitkara University adopted Village Thuha, Rajpura, saw experts – Dr. Nitin Saluja, Dr. Neelam Verma, Mr. Varinder Singh, Mr. Chanpreet Singh; and village farmers discussing Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna. The program is scheduled to be telecast on December 23, 2019, at 9am IST.

DD Kisan is an Indian agriculture 24-hour channel owned by Doordarshan India, and aims to bridge the information gap for Indian farmers. The channel has shows that mainly address farmers’ queries, give out technical information on new farm technology and serves as a platform for the administration and the government to connect with farmers on a daily basis.
