Chitkara University Hosts a Five-Day FDP on Cultivating Excellence in Sports and Life Skills
Chitkara University recently concluded a comprehensive five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Sporting Synergy: Cultivating Excellence in Sports and Life Skills.” The programme, led by Viney Khurana, Director of CUPDC, was specifically designed for the University Sports Board team. This initiative aimed to enhance the coaching and mentoring capabilities of the sports faculty, fostering both athletic prowess and essential life skills among students.
The FDP featured an intensive curriculum that covered various aspects of sports education and life skills development. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, workshops, and practical demonstrations that focused on innovative coaching techniques, psychological conditioning, and the integration of life skills into sports training. The programme emphasised the importance of holistic development, encouraging athletes to excel not only in their sports but also in their personal and professional lives.
Viney Khurana, an experienced sports educator, spearheaded the sessions with his deep expertise and passion for nurturing young talent. His approach to training emphasised the synergy between physical fitness, mental resilience, and character building. “Our goal is to equip our coaches with the tools and knowledge they need to develop well-rounded athletes. By integrating life skills with sports training, we prepare our students to face challenges both on and off the field,” Khurana explained.
Throughout the five days, the University Sports Board team participated in a variety of activities designed to enhance their understanding of athlete development. These included seminars on sports psychology, nutritional guidance, injury prevention, and motivational strategies. Practical workshops allowed participants to apply these concepts in real-world scenarios, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
The FDP also highlighted the significance of mental health and well-being in sports. Sessions on stress management, emotional intelligence, and effective communication were integral parts of the program. By addressing these critical areas, the initiative aimed to create a supportive and empowering atmosphere for student-athletes, ensuring their overall growth and success.
Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University, lauded the efforts of Viney Khurana and the University Sports Board team. “This FDP is a testament to our commitment to excellence in sports education. By investing in the development of our sports faculty, we are ensuring that our students receive the best possible guidance and support. The integration of life skills into sports training is a progressive step towards creating future leaders who excel in all aspects of life,” she remarked.
The successful completion of the Sporting Synergy FDP marks a significant milestone in Chitkara University’s ongoing efforts to elevate its sports program. The insights gained and the skills developed during this programme are expected to have a lasting impact on the university’s athletic community.
