Chitkara University holds the annual convocation for its Class of 2018

There are certain moments in life which are etched in memory forever. Getting your Degree is one such moment.

Chitkara University, Punjab campus, held a glittering ceremony, spread over three days, to honour the graduating students of 2018. Graduates in the following disciplines were awarded degrees:

  • MBA, BBA, B.Com
  • CSE, Pharma and Health Sciences
  • ECE, ME, Diploma, BCA, MCA, BCA-MCA (Integrated), ME Fellowship (ECE) & PhD
  • B.Arch, Hospitality, Mass Communication and B.Ed

All ceremonies saw excited students in their academic gowns and caps seated in the assembly, waiting anxiously to receive their degrees. The glittering affair began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and an inaugural address by Chitkara University Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara, on all three days.

In the inaugural address, Dr Madhu Chitkara motivated the students to always stand by the Ethos & Teachings of Chitkara University and reminded them that their actions, words, deeds, will reflect not only on themselves but also on their Alma Mater.

The Graduation Ceremony for the 2018 Batch of Business Programs, including MBA, BBA and B.Com was held on June 30. The ceremony started with the official lamp lighting by Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara, followed by convocation address from chief guests and dignitaries. Mr Sujan Sinha – Managing Director & CEO at Shriram Housing Finance Limited, Mr Akshay Mathur – APAC|Regional Head of Talent Acquisition at S&P Global, Dr. Karanvir Singh – National Lead – Retail & Sales Training at Raymond Limited and Mr Kunal Rohila – Head, Campus Recruitment at Axtria – Ingenious Insights, attended the ceremony which saw more than 250 students graduate.

There was the celebration in the air as the former students walked up the stage confidently and received their Degrees. Students who brought laurels to the University by performing well throughout the year, in academic and extracurricular activities, were also acknowledged and felicitated during the ceremony.

In another convocation ceremony held on July 21, for the Batch of 2018 of CSE, Pharma and School of Health Sciences, it was again both a new beginning and a bittersweet ending for the Graduates. The occasion was marked with a lamp lighting ceremony by Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara, followed by her inaugural address in which she expressed her pleasure and honour to be amidst some of the finest graduates of this country. More than 350 Engineering students of CSE Batch of 2018 and over 250 students of Pharma, Nursing, Optometry Allied Health Sciences Batch of 2018 received their Degrees from our Hon’ble guests on the occasion.

The Degree of Honoris Causa was awarded to Manish Sharma, Vice President, Appliances Company, Panasonic Corporation | President & CEO, Panasonic India & SA. Other guests who attended the session included, Dr. S. Naga Siddharth, Group Chief People Officer (CHRO), The TE Group, Prof. Madhavan Mukund, ACM India Past President, ACM India, Amit Mathur, Sr. director-human resource & head of talent acquisition, Myntra and Jabong, Vishwanath Kuruganti, VP Operations, Go-Jek Tech, Manish Gumber, Lead: India Portfolio Planning at Cipla.. Young graduates were overwhelmed with the words of encouragement from the guests who spoke on the occasion.

Pharma and Health Sciences convocation session was held in the afternoon. Guests for the session included Mr. Prem Singh, President – Global Human Resources at Wockhardt Ltd., Ashok Priyadarshi, Vice President -HR & CSR at Alkem Laboratories Ltd., Cdr Pratap Pawar (Retd), Director HR & IT at Great Software Laboratory (GS Lab), Emmanuel Gosula, Senior Manager at EPAM Systems, Gaurav Vohra, Partner and Head, KPMG Academy.

On July 28, Graduates and Postgraduates, along with Doctoral candidates, from ECE, ME, Diploma, BCA, MCA, BCA-MCA (Integrated), ME Fellowship (ECE) & PhD received their Degrees. The guests for the morning session were Mr. Devidas Kulkarni – Chief Executive Officer at Siemens Limited, Mr. Amit Gossain – Chief Executive Officer | Managing Director at Kone Elevators India, Mr. Alok Nanda – Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director at General Electric India, Dr. P.N. Kakkar – Medical Director & Chairman Quality at Park Group of Hospitals, Mr. Sanjay Ambhorkar – Vice President – HR at Brakes and Chasis India.

The afternoon session saw graduates from B.Arch, Hospitality, Mass Communication and B.Ed receiving their Degrees. The session began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and an inaugural address by Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara. Students who brought laurels to the University were applauded and appreciated as they received their Degrees. The guests for the session were Rajeev Gupta – Head – Human Resources at Kajaria Tiles, Maynk Bhatnagar – General Manager – HR at Network 18, Ramanjit Nanda, General Manager – HR at SML ISUZU, Sharad Mishra – Vice President & Head of Human Resources at Andritz Hydro (India), Sanjay Kavathalkar – Vice President HR at Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd.

It was also an occasion for the students to meet their professors as equals, and to thank them for the education. Overall, more than 300 students from the Batch of 2018, in various disciplines of ECE, ME, Diploma, BCA, MCA, BCA-MCA (Integrated), ME Fellowship (ECE) & PhD, and around 260 students of B.Arch, Hospitality and B.Ed were conferred Degrees.

Since its inception, Chitkara University has always laid greater focus on skill-based Technical Courses and Integrated Programs, to ensure better employability of Graduates. We wish our Graduates the very best in their future endeavours.
