Chitkara University celebrates ‘Samskrita Week’

Office of Student Affairs, Chitkara University, Punjab celebrated ‘’Samskrita Week’’ among the various departments of University from 31st July 2020 to 6th August 2020.

The activities conducted by the Office of Student Affairs were Essay and Poetry Writing on different topics in which about 45 students from different departments participated with full excitement.

Also various departments under the Office of Student Affairs organized various activities for the students like- Calligraphy, Debate competition, Slogan writing, Poster making, Video making, Chart making, Festive Fervour competition, Shalok writing & recitation Competition, Contribution of Mahakavi Kalidas and Max Muller on Sanskrit Language and many more. The interactive session was conducted by Electronics and Communication Engineering the department where students came to know the importance of Sanskrit language by participating in the activities and also learnt the significance of mother language in their lives.

In addition, the Department of Applied Sciences celebrated World Sanskrit Day by organizing the activities like Slogan writing, Essay writing, Poem recitation, Speech competition and handwriting competition with the Faculty from different departments of the university. Sanskrit is a window to India’s great cultural heritage and must be kept alive so that we may continue exploring and understanding our civilizational roots.

The winners of the activities conducted by the different departments were: Sahil Chakraborty from Chitkara Business School, Harsh Pandey from Chitkara School of Health Sciences, Shreya Mahajan from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Keerti Manocha from Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture, Swati Chadha from Chitkara College of Pharmacy, Ramandeep Kaur from the department of Nursing, Neha Aggarwal from the department of Computer Applications, Hemendra Yadav from the department of Mechanical Engineering and Zeenat from Chitkara school of Mass and Communication.

And the winners of Essay and Poetry writing activity conducted by the Office of Student Affairs respectively were: Pratibha Verma from the department of Computer Applications, Parul from Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture and Harwinder Singh from Chitkara College of Pharmacy, Riya Jindal from Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture.

World Sanskrit Day, also known as Vishvasamskritadinam, is a day that focuses on the ancient language of Sanskrit that incorporates lectures about the language and is aimed to promote its revival and maintenance.
