Chitkara students participate in World Telecommunication & Information Society Day
The student members of I.E. (India), ECE and EEE participated in ‘World Telecommunication and Information Society Day’- WTISD 2014’ held at Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre.
Mr. Amit Pandey accompanied the students. The purpose of the day was to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
The theme for WTISD-14’ was ‘Broadband for Sustainable Development’. Dr. Amod Kumar, Director, Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest. Our students Kartar Kaur, Shruti Thukral, Shaina and Pranshu Sehgal of School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering represented Chitkara University as they were the invited student speakers of the day. The budding technocrats presented their ideas through impressive presentations.
Kartar Kaur spoke on ‘Impact of Broadband on Telemedicine’ while Shaina elaborated on ‘Broadband for Sustainable Growth in Economy’. Shruti Thukral modishly presented new technology ‘Li Fi- Communicate through Light’. Pranshu Sehgal impressed the audience with his talk on ‘Project Loom against the Gloom’. Er. P.S. Bhogal, Honorary Secretary, appreciated Priyanka Saini and Sonali Sharma of Electrical Engineering for the smooth conduct of the function as Masters of Ceremony. The student speakers were felicitated with mementoes and certificates by the Chairman, Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre.
