The 16th International Conference and Exhibition on Pharmaceutical Formulations (Formulation 2017) was held from July 26-27, 2018, at Rome, Italy, based on the theme “Crystallization of Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Formulations”. The conference invited Scientists, Researchers, Students and Leaders from various fields of Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems, from across the globe, to attend & share their insights and convey recent developments in the field of Pharmaceutical Formulations.

The conference was initiated with the honorable presence of the keynote forum. The list includes Heiko Brisen, Technical University of Munich, Germany; Joel Richard, IPSEN, France; Mastomo Yashimo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan; Richard Bone, Florida International University, USA.

Mr. Vivek Puri and Ms. Ameya Sharma, Assistant Professors and PhD Scholars at Chitkara College of Pharmacy, were invited for poster presentation to the International Conference in Italy. Chitkara University is proud to announce that both their poster presentations were awarded a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ – Mr Vivek Puri was duly recognised for his poster presentation themed, ‘Thiolation of Jackfruit gum and its evaluation as a mucoadhesive polymer’ and Ms. Ameya Sharma was recognised for her poster presentation themed, ‘Formulation and evaluation of Pap-aloe hybrid microfibers of wound healing application’. Ms. Ameya was also the Conference Moderator.

Pharmaceutical formulation is defined as the process in which different chemical substances are combined to produce a final medicinal product. The formulation studies involve developing a preparation of drug acceptable for the patient, including the dosage form. Formulation studies consider factors such as solubility, particle size, polymorphism and pH as all of these can influence bioavailability and hence the activity of a drug.

The 2018 conference reflected on various sessions, in which discussions were held on the following major scientific tracks: Pharmaceutical Formulations, Solid Dosage Forms, Semi-solid Dosage Forms, Liquid Dosage Forms, Gaseous Dosage Forms, Types of Formulations, Novel Drug Delivery Systems, General Considerations in Dosage Forms, Drug Formulation Procedures, Pharmaceutical Excipients, Drug Design & Development, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Drug Product Manufacturing, Smart Drug Delivery Systems, Pharmacists Role in Patient Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Formulations Market, and Entrepreneurs Investment Meet.

The pursuance of a global research agenda lies at the centre of our goal to build a world-class institution of learning. Faculty research at Chitkara University has always been encouraged. Teaching responsibilities of faculty members are appropriately balanced with their research aspirations, and the University constantly encourages and supports faculty participation in national and international conferences for presenting their research. Further, the University’s research centres also provide a sharper focus to specific aspects of research for faculty members who while pursuing their research agenda are able to bring together other researchers in India and around the world to participate in collaborative research with their Centers. A mark of our success relates to Chitkara faculty research being increasingly referred to by scholars and practitioners around the world. Our growing impact is also evident in the increasing number of research projects and consultancies that our faculty members and research centres and institutes are collaborating on with external agencies and organizations.
