Basant Panchami is an annual festival celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in India. This festival marks the beginning of spring and is dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, known as the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, and science. It is believed that on this day, the goddess blesses her devotees with knowledge and wisdom, making it an auspicious occasion for students, scholars, and intellectuals to offer prayers and seek blessings for a successful academic and professional life.

The festival is celebrated in different parts of India with unique traditions and customs, and it involves prayers, devotional songs, and cultural activities. People gather in large numbers to participate in these festivities and celebrate the arrival of spring.

Chitkara University, Punjab, recently celebrated Basant Panchami on 26th January 2023, welcoming the season of spring with a pooja ceremony dedicated to the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, Saraswati. Honorable Pro-Chancellor Ma’am, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, performed the puja with all traditional rituals, accompanied by the Dean/Directors from various departments, faculty members, staff, and students.

Law students and faculty from Western Sydney University, Australia, also witnessed and enjoyed the Basant Panchami and Republic Day celebrations. The puja was a true celebration of knowledge and learning, and a fitting tribute to the goddess of education.

The celebration included the participation of C2S2 Dhwani Club, whose melodious tunes filled the air, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The celebration was a true testament to the cultural richness of India and the importance of education in society.
