Architecture students at 57th Annual NASA Convention, Tamil Nadu
Chitkara Architecture fraternity was all engrossed in the traditional charm of Tamil Nadu as they visited the state during the 57th Annual NASA Convention 2015 held at Tamil Nadu.
A delegation of 45 students from Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture attended the 57th Annual NASA convention at MIDAS, Swarnabhoomi, Tamil Nadu.
Every year, the Annual NASA Convention, or ANC in short, revolves around a designated theme. The theme is usually a pressing issue that requires immediate address or a current topic that looks at various consequences and possibilities for the problem at hand. This year, all the major Trophies at the 57th ANC are centered around the theme of ‘Transformation’, with a specific focus on ‘Transforming Cities’.
Since the dawn of civilization, time and again has humanity witnessed the rise and fall of concentrated settlements – called by many names, known to us as “City” or “Metropolis”.
Today, 54% of the world’s population resides in urban areas alone. And thus, keeping in tune with this year’s Annual NASA Convention’s theme of “Transforming Cities”, it was time to delve into the concept of metropolis by attempting a world record during the convention.
At the convention, three of the CSPA student’s competition entries got shortlisted in the final rounds. The students also visited World Heritage site of Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram) and Dakshin Chitra – South Indian vernacular Architectural Museum. CSPA Faculty Members – Prof Nitin Dutt and Architect Abhishek Sharma organized and accompanied the student delegation.
