Our architecture faculty participates in ‘Understanding Heritage of the 20th Century’ by NIASA, Pune
National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), Pune, conducted a training program titled – ‘Understanding Heritage of the 20th Century’ Identification – Documentation – Conservation’ from 9th -13th March, 2015.
Prof. Kiran Joshi – Head Chitkara Centre for Advanced Studies in Architecture, Chitkara University, Punjab and Coordinator ICOMOS – India’s NSC on 20th Century Heritage was the Coordinator and Resource Person for this National Level Training Program. Architect Abhishek Sharma – Faculty at Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture also participated in the above training program.
The program was designed into two parts, the first half comprised of a series of well-illustrated lectures representing key issues of conserving 20th Century Heritage, evaluation, intervention methods, and management of change, the historic, social and cultural dimensions of century Pune, and, the Scientific methodology of listing and documentation.
The second part of the program comprised of a hands-on field exercise focused listing and documentation of a few historic buildings, areas representing the key aspects of 20th Century in Pune, ending with a presentation of results by participants.
