Anmol Moudgil wins medal at State Athletics Championship

Anmol Moudgil, student of Automobile Engineering, Chitkara University, won the silver medal in Long Jump at Chandigarh Junior and Senior State Level Athletics Championship, which was held on March 5th and March 6th, 2022. The Junior and Senior State Level Athletics Championship was organized by Chandigarh Athletics Association. Chandigarh Athletics Association is affiliated with Athletics Federation of India, Chandigarh Olympics Association and Chandigarh Sports Council. The Championship was organized at Sports Complex, Sector -7B, Chandigarh. Only the athletes residing, studying and working in Chandigarh were eligible to participate in the Championship.

Long Jump is a sport in which the performer exercises his strength and stamina. This sport is also known as broad jump. In this tutorial, we will discuss about various techniques and tactics that will help an athlete to achieve success in long jump. Long Jump is a track-and-field event in which an athlete is required to jump to a distance as far as possible from a given take-off point. Among all the athletes, the person who covers a maximum distance is usually declared as winner. The sport is played under both men and women categories. The traces of this sport lead us to ancient Greece. It was then played as Olympics pattern. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is the apex body for Athletics in India, and is responsible for conducting Competitions in the country, formed in 1943. It was earlier called as Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI). It is associated with both Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and World Athletics.

Chandigarh Sports Council is a statutory body which was constituted on 1st July, 1984. The main aim to constitute the committee was for financial assistance for holding of State, National and International tournaments to the Sports Associations which are duly recognized by the National Federation / Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Council itself and also organizing the National /International matches itself. It also extends the cash awards to the sports persons for the International tournament and also extending financial assistance to the sports person representing U.T. Chandigarh in the different International recognized tournaments.
