An Expert Talk delivered on ‘Sources, Monitoring, Control, Standards and Guidelines for the Safe Noise Limits’

Dr Mahavir Singh, PhD (IITD), CEng, PEng, FASI, FMSI, FUSI, FIEI, MIIAV-USA, Senior Principal Scientist and Head of the Acoustics, Ultrasonics& Vibration (AUV) Section of the CSIR National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi, was invited at Chitkara University, Punjab, to deliver an Expert Talk on ‘Sources, Monitoring, Control, Standards and Guidelines for the Safe Noise Limits’ by the Department of Applied Sciences.

The talk shed light on the research facilities in various fields like Nano Fabrication, Thin Films, Silicon Solar Cell Fabrication, Efficiency Measurement of Organic Solar Cells, Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical, Optical and Spectroscopy available in National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and their outreach. The various standard for noise and acoustics were also discussed and the participants were also guided about the control of high noise that is harmful for the society.

During this highly informative talk, delegates from Chitkara University, Punjab who were an integral part of the talk were Dr SC Sharma, Registrar; Dr JasdevBhatti, Joint Registrar; Dr Vijay Jadon, Dean, Civil and Mechatronics Department; Dr Pankaj Kumar, Dean, PhD Programs; Dr Mohit Kakkar, Assistant Dean, Department of Applied Sciences; Dr Reetu Malhotra, PI, Department of Applied Sciences.

This is a very important subject and hence, the participants had a great experience as they got an opportunity to understand the nuances of the subject from Dr Singh, who is a master in this field.
