Alumni share their personal and professional experiences with the media students
Chitkara Alumni Network (CAN) in association with School of Mass Communication organised an interactive season on 3rd October 2016. The CAN invited selected Alumni to share their personal experience with the students.
The senior-most among the Alumni to share her experience was Salonie Sharma now working as a Public Relation Consultant with Blue Lotus Company at Chandigarh. She emphasised that “Professionalism, is the key”, while telling the students how important it is to create “positive news”.
Taking the session forward, Nikhil Sharma, who started with Times of India and now works with Hindustan Times, Chandigarh, briefed the students how the media industry works. According to him, a Journalist should be passionate about their work rather than focusing on monetary rewards. Ms. Kamini Mehta who is now Correspondent in Times of India, Chandigarh took the session forward. “Your work speaks”, said Kamini, emphasising on the best part of the print media.
The next alumnus, who is a PR consultant in Chandigarh, Nivida Sharma, told the students to have patience in whatever they do so that “you are able to build an Empire out of your life”.
Later in the afternoon Kanwardeep Kaur, who is now working as RJ in Radio Mirchi, Chandigarh, told the students her experience in the radio world.
Overall the session was interactive and interesting too, where all the alumni poured out their real life experiences while working in the media industry.
