Spectacular display of India’s vibrant culture, diversity marks Republic Day celebrations at Chitkara

The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Chitkara University, Punjab, in all its solemnity and grandeur.

The celebration commenced with the customary parade by NCC Cadets. The Guard of Honor was presented to Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, who hoisted the National Flag amid singing of the National Anthem. Mr. Mohan Singh, Group Head, Human Resources at Sterling and Wilson Pvt Ltd., and his wife Mrs. Mona Singh, were the chief guests at the occasion. The students & staff saluted the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour & integrity, diversity & uniqueness that comprises India.

In her address, Dr. Madhu urged all to be dutiful and committed to the responsibilities as proud citizens of the country. She talked about how these celebrations are a reminder of our duties towards the country to rededicate ourselves to the values enshrined in our Constitution.

A lively program was also organised at the occasion. The breathtaking performances, cultural dances, acts, and plays by the students encompassed and showcased India’s glorious journey. Students from Western Sydney University, Australia, who are currently visiting Chitkara University, Punjab, also celebrated the Australian Day along with Republic Day of India and took great pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity & diversity. As a part of the celebrations, Australian students performed the famous Australian Nut Bush Dance, which was enjoyed by all. Finally, awards & certificates were given to meritorious students and faculty, during a glittering valedictory ceremony, by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Madhu Chitkara.

The 70th Republic Day celebrations concluded with a Tree Plantation Drive initiated by Dr. Madhu Chitkara and Chief Guest Mr. Mohan Singh & his wife Mrs. Mona Singh, in collaboration with the NSS Wing of the University.
