Madhur Gupta gets Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE award from President of India
Madhur Gupta, a first-year engineering student at Chitkara University, was awarded the coveted Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE award by President Pranab Mukherjee on November 7at a function organised in Delhi.
The competition is organised by the National Innovation of India (NIF) in association with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Honey Bee Network.
Around 31 winners of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE 2016 Competition were felicitated at Delhi and we are proud that Madhur was one of them. Overall, 55,089 submissions of students from 458 districts of all the states and Union Territories of India were received during the IGNITE 16 competition. They were analyzed on the basis of how innovative they were and how could they benefit society.
An elated Madhur stated, “If my idea is put into practice, movement of forged currency and black money can be checked. He also added that many other currency-related crimes will be controlled.” His father Er. Jagjiwan Gupta is a SDO in Punjab Irrigation and he stated that the idea came to Madhur’s mind while Madhur was having a chat with him once.
Madhur added that he was immensely happy and motivated to receive the award. Amid the ongoing ban on Rs 500 and 1000 note, the idea of “secured currency notes” makes a lot of sense.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Award is a national competition in which students must send original impressive ideas as the competition aims to promote creativity and originality in terms of ideas among students.
Every year, students submit their innovative ideas to NIF, an autonomous body of the department of science and technology, and the best ones are picked up and acknowledged through an award and it was Madhur who simply won it hands down as he rolled out the idea.
We are proud of Madhur and all our students who know that sky is certainly not the limit for exploring one’s potential.
