61 Teams, 280 Students, 1800 minutes – OctaHacks 2.0, a roaring success!

61 Teams, 280 Students, 1800 minutes – Chitkara University’s coding hackathon – OctaHacks 2.0, kicked-off to a winning start at the campus on September 20, 2019, with humongous participation.

The campus was transformed into an adrenaline-fuelled zone for 30 hours, as students took-on the nail-biting challenge to bring out innovative solutions for real-life problems. Participants were required to stay on campus, overnight — hacking and building code, and throughout the event, a Leader Board was maintained to track the progress of each team.

The event kick-started with an opening ceremony followed by the commencement of the hackathon. Post a night of non-stop coding, participating teams presented their prototype in a quick pitch, for implementation of their model, to a panel of judges & experts – Mr. Kamal Vaid, Technology Lead, and Mr Shiv, Technology Analyst, Infosys Limited, Chandigarh; Mr Sawan Mehta, Lead Product Developer, and Mr. Rameez Farooqi, Patent Research Analyst, TT Consultants.

After a thorough evaluation, student team – Nirmaljot Singh, Madhav Pruthi, Deepak Tiwari, Ritesh Goyal, Mayank Saggar; were declared the first prize winners and presented a cash award of Rs 20,000 along with up to Rs. 2.5 Lakh prototype grant from New Gen IEDC. Student team – Vanshika, Rahul, Yashika Sharma have presented the second prize and awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 cash and goodies worth Rs 1.5 Lakh. Finally, student team – Angadh Srivastava and Shikhar Saxena were placed third and given a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with goodies worth Rs 1 Lakh. To keep other participants motivated, consolation prizes were given away to Top 3 all-girls teams, and Top 10 all teams, sponsored by Facebook Dev Circle, Wolfram Alpha, Sketch, CodeChef and TopCorders.
