47th Engineer’s Day Celebrated at Chitkara University

Students’ Chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) celebrated “ENGINEERS DAY” with great enthusiasm at Chitkara University, Punjab campus as well as at Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre of Institution of Engineers, Chandigarh on September 15, 2014. Engineers’ Day is celebrated on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary engineer Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (1860-1962).

The celebration began with the tribute ceremony to Sir M.V. and engineering fraternity. The function was presided over by esteemed guest Er. J.S. Gill, General Manager, Nabha Power Ltd., Larsen and Toubro, Rajpura.

Chief Guest Er J S Gill in his address emphasized on research for making Indian Engineering world class. He said that his organization will dedicate one week in a year for students of Chitkara University. Wg Cdr R. S. Gill addressed the gathering and shared his experience. He applauded the performances of students and congratulated the organizing team for the excellent conduct of event. Dr Vijay Srivastava presented mementoes to guests. Aastha Sharma (CSE) and Taniya Aggarwal (CSE) were appreciated by all for their lively performance as Masters of Ceremony. Ms. Anu Singla Faculty Adviser of Students’ Chapter I.E.I. thanked everyone for their contribution in making Engineers Day celebration as a memorable event. Efforts put in by student organizers Manjyot Singh (ME), Rajat Chopra (ME), Shubham Chawla (ECE), Sakshi Oberio (CSE), Himanshu Dudeja (ME) and Vikesh Garg (ECE) were highly commendable. Engineers Day celebration continued with the commencement of technical events in afternoon session. TechXtreme, Match2Match and Explora Brain were the centre of attraction for our budding engineers.

Our students were also invited to I.E.(I) Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, Chandigarh to be part of celebration of Engineers Day function held at their premises. Dr. Manoj Kumar Arora, Director, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was the chief guest. Rishma Joshi (EEE) shared her views on technological research while Mr. Abhinav Mishra (CSE) payed his tributes to Indian Engineers in form of presentation. Aprajita (ECE) impressed the audience with her talk on latest innovations in engineering in India. Radhika Aggarwal (ECE) and Smridhi Batra (CSE) conducted the function meticulously as Masters of Ceremony. Er.P.S. Bhogal, Honorary Secretary appreciated the students for the smooth conduct of function. The student speakers were felicitated with certificates by the Chairman, Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre.
