Chitkara University Sports Board organised the fifth edition of Chitkara Futsal ’17, the ultimate 5-A side Football Tournament.

About 36 teams of the region participated in the league with great enthusiasm and excitement. The tournament began amidst much thrill and excitement giving just the right kind of atmosphere for a sports tourney to begin. Futsal, also known as five-a-side-football is played in a hard court, which is smaller than a football pitch. The opponent teams have five players each and there is one goalkeeper. Because the area on which Futsal is played is small, extreme agility and presence of mind are needed in the game.

There were several teams that participated in the event taking it to an all-new level and added icing on the cake was the presence of Dr Madhu Chitkara, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University. She not only watched with rapt attention but also motivated the players to give their best shot.

Several members, including faculty and staff, from Chitkara University, were present at the occasion. The teams were handed out certificates with handsome cash prizes and trophies given to the winning teams.

Minerva Academy Football Club, Chandigarh, lifted the Chitkara Futsal ’17 Championship Trophy and Kharar Football Club was the Runners-Up. The winning and runners-up teams received a cash prize of Rs 31,000 and 21,000, respectively. Hon’ble Dr Madhu Chitkara graced the occasion with her benign presence and awarded the winners.
