Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Developer Students Club and UCollege organized a national level Hackathon ‘OctaHacks’ at Chitkara University.

Over the past year, hackathons have taken the country by storm and it is an attempt by Chitkara University to keep upbeat with the latest.

More than 100 participants participated in the 26-hour (day-night) national level hackathon based on eight tracks. Team “Impact” of Thapar University was declared as the winner while team “BugLife” and Chitkara University was the runner-up.

Hackathons offer a setting for self-expression and imagination through technology. People with technical backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea, and collaboratively code a unique solution from scratch — these generally take shape in the form of websites, mobile apps, and robots, activities involving these and technology. Whether we are building a website, mobile app, or even hardware hack, the goal is to start from scratch and end with a working prototype and this is exactly what happened at Chitkara University’s OctaHacks.

Despite complete lack of sleep, the event was addicting, and the community building around them is growing faster than ever. The event was indeed much appreciated.
