Introduction to ISTE

In the year 1941, ATPI, the Association of Principals of Technical institutions, was initiated. In 1967, the ATPI saw its conversion to ISTE or the Indian Society for Technical Education. This conversion was intended to expand its activities to advance the cause of technological education.

The ISTE aims to spread awareness among its members in addition, to making them realize their role and responsibility regarding technical education for the service of humanity and the advancement of the general welfare.

Aims of ISTE

Putting technology to use for enabling educators and education leaders who are engaged in advancing excellence in learning and teaching with the use of technology is what the ISTE, which is the premier membership association, aims at. When it comes to a trusted source for professional development, knowledge generation, advocacy, and leadership for innovation, ISTE is a known name.

For enabling the cause of technical education and research, ISTE is a reputed society as it cooperates with Central and State Governments industry and approved institutions, professional bodies, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Department of Science and Technology (DST) and individuals in the field.

Objectives

There are various objectives of the ISTE and these are to formulate the general goals and responsibilities of technical education, develop effective teachers and educational administrators, enhance professional ideals and standards, foster research as a function complementary to teaching, cultivate fraternal spirit amongst the teachers, administrators, industrialist and professionals and to bring about effective linkage between technical institutions, industry, and society.

Various activities are carried out by the ISTE and some of the activities are:

  • Project review and evaluation
  • Quiz
  • Talent scout
  • Treasure hunt
  • Events during technical fests

The timely commencement of these activities is planned to ensure that students are encouraged to participate and win prizes.

Dattatreya Singla got the best student co-coordinator award during Praudyogikii’13.

Our two students, Dattatreya Singla and Ashmeet Kaur got the best ISTE students award in ‘Scintilla2K13’under the ages of the ISTE student chapter sponsored by Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), Faridkot, on March 21, 2013.

There is a lot that the ISTE membership does by providing a host of opportunities for educators all over the world. Various benefits come along with membership in the ISTE.
