The government of India has notified IETE as an Educational Institution of National Eminence. This recognition has fallen into place due to IETE being a leading professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication and I.T. Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology. Following this, the Department of Science and Industrial Research has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.
In order to attain human resource development, IETE promotes and conducts basic engineering and continuing technical education programmes.

The inauguration of ISF (IETE Students Forum) at Chitkara Institute of Engineering Technology in ECE department took place on November 7 in 2009.
