4-YEAR BACHELOR OF OPTOMETRY

Chitkara School of Health Sciences has initiated a 4-Year full-time Bachelor of Optometry. The training methodology provides integrated inputs which help to develop a high degree of conceptual skills, analytical skills and quality technical knowledge base among aspirants and prepares them for a bright future in the Eyecare Industry.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Chitkara School of Health Sciences (CSHS) has introduced a 4-Year full-time program in Optometry, which deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system.

The program is envisaged to develop a multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at paramedical level. The program will enable a student to become a competent person in providing service as an Optician, Optometrist, Refraction Specialist and Ophthalmic Assistant to the community. Our training methodology will provide students with integrated inputs that will help develop their conceptual & analytical skills, and a strong technical knowledge base, in order to prepare them for a bright future in the eye care sector of the Healthcare Industry.

CAMPUS RECRUITMENT

Optometrists usually work in eye hospitals, clinics and opticians’ outlets or with multinational vision care companies. You may also specialise in particular types of vision disorders (squints, colour blindness etc). After gaining experience in a private establishment or with a lens manufacturer, you can open your own practice. You will be surprised to know that optometry features among the top 10 income-earning professions in the US. Flexibility in practice and myriad choices in geographic location make it an excellent career choice. Following are the career paths that are available to graduates:

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Our 4-Year Optometry program is designed to provide you with all the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to become a qualified Optometrist. Optometrists do much more than supply spectacles and contact lenses. An optometry examination includes screening for signs of disease that may need medical attention. Optometrists may also offer specialist advice and treatment to patients having problems with low vision, binocular vision, and those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

  • 1.5-Year on Chitkara University Campus
  • 1.5-Year at Eye Hospitals
  • 1-Year paid internship in Eye Hospitals across the country

  • XII passed (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths as compulsory subjects)
  • Personal Interview
  • Rs. 50,000 will need to be paid at the end of the 1st year for the Mandatory Optometry kit.
