Dr. Rajeev Kamal Sharma

Dr. Sharma is an alumnus of Regional Engineering College (now National Institute of Technology), Hamirpur, and Punjab Engineering College (now Punjab Engineering College – Deemed to be University), Chandigarh. He earned his Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala, specializing in fluidized bed combustion, a field crucial for sustainable energy solutions. He has published extensively in renowned international and national journals and has been actively involved in guiding Ph.D. scholars, contributing to research on biomass-based energy systems.

Before his current role, Dr. Sharma held several key academic and administrative positions at Chitkara University, including Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Deputy Dean – Examinations. He also served as the Remote Center Coordinator for the Faculty Development Program (FDP) under the National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. of India), where he facilitated capacity-building initiatives for faculty members, promoting the use of digital tools in education. His leadership has significantly improved examination management systems, ensuring greater accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. He has been instrumental in the digitalization of examination processes, streamlining evaluation methods, and reducing manual errors.

A strong advocate of academic reforms, Dr. Sharma played a key role in implementing the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This initiative has enhanced student flexibility by enabling seamless credit transfers. Additionally, his focus on technology-driven assessment reforms has led to the introduction of automated grading systems, improved data security, and student-friendly evaluation policies.

His contributions extend beyond administration, as he actively works towards quality assurance in academic assessments. Under his leadership, robust monitoring mechanisms have been established to uphold academic integrity and fairness. His vision for a modern, student-centric, and technology-driven examination system continues to shape Chitkara University’s academic landscape, reinforcing its reputation as a center of excellence in higher education.
