Chitkara University Marks World Nature Day with Creative Initiatives
Chitkara University, in collaboration with Government Senior Secondary School, Jhansla, celebrated World Nature Day with innovative activities that underscored the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability. The event, organised as part of Chitkara University’s ongoing commitment to fostering environmental stewardship, featured a “Best Out of Waste” competition and a Slogan Writing Contest, led by the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers.
The initiative aimed to engage students in meaningful activities that highlighted the critical need to preserve natural resources and reduce waste. Participants in the slogan-writing contest showcased their linguistic creativity, crafting compelling messages that called for urgent environmental action. Their words, vibrant with passion and purpose, became rallying cries for sustainability, urging others to adopt eco-friendly practices and rethink their relationship with the planet.
Equally inspiring was the “Best Out of Waste” competition, where students transformed discarded materials into functional and aesthetically appealing creations. Using newspapers, cardboard, and other reusable items, they designed colourful flower pots, stylish bags, and other practical objects. These creations stood as testaments to the potential of waste to be repurposed and served as a powerful reminder of the role individuals can play in conserving resources.
The event concluded with an acknowledgement of the participants’ efforts, as prizes were awarded to those whose creations and slogans stood out. Beyond the accolades, the activities instilled a sense of responsibility among the students, inspiring them to become advocates for sustainability in their communities.
By hosting such events, Chitkara University continues to emphasize the importance of proactive environmental engagement, encouraging future generations to be custodians of a greener, more sustainable world.
