AIU North Zone Sports Championships Hosted by Chitkara University Draws Regional Talent
Chitkara University hosted the North Zone Inter-University Badminton (Men) and Table Tennis (Women) Championships in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Held at the university’s sports complex, the event attracted top athletes from universities across North India, providing a competitive platform for showcasing skill, resilience, and sportsmanship.
The championships were inaugurated by esteemed guests, including Dr. S.C. Sharma, Registrar; Prof. Harkiran Kaur, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara Alumni Network (CAAN); Col. Satyaveer Singh, Director of Residential Services; and Harinder Pal Singh, Director of the University Sports Board. Their presence highlighted Chitkara University’s commitment to promoting athletic development alongside academic achievement.
The competitions were intense and highlighted the exceptional talent of participants. In the Women’s Table Tennis Championship, Chitkara University secured first place, followed by Chandigarh University and Punjab University in second and third positions, respectively. The Men’s Badminton Championship also saw Chitkara University leading, with Delhi University as runner-up and Punjab University in third place. These results underscored the dedication of each team and their coaches, bringing pride to their institutions.
The North Zone Inter-University Championships served as a celebration of the unifying power of sports, encouraging students to connect and compete with determination. Chitkara University’s collaboration with AIU in organising the event reflects its dedication to creating opportunities for holistic development, balancing academic excellence with athletic achievement.
