As many as 140 representatives of schools of Tricity & its adjoining areas attend the Principals’ Meet-2023 organised by The Tribune Group of Newspapers in collaboration with Chitkara University, in Chandigarh to deliberate on ‘Innovative Pedagogy and Effective Teaching Learning’ in the school system. The seminar was exclusively tailored for school principals and coordinators. The event saw a remarkable turnout of 140 principals and teachers, keen on exploring novel approaches to education.

Renowned academician and historian, Padma Shri Dr. Pushpesh Pant, was the key speaker. Dr. Pant captivated the audience by sharing his experiences as a teacher and relating interesting anecdotes. Disclosing that he was homeschooled by his mother, who believed that a child should be put into formal schooling only when he/she showed inclination to go school, he emphasised the efficacy of home-based learning.

The event provided a platform for principals to exchange ideas and insights on best practices in school management. Principals actively engaged in discussions on the role of school leaders. The challenges being faced by school heads in the current scenario were also discussed by the keynote speaker, who said that principals need to be free agents to create a conducive-learning environment. The focus was on role of innovative pedagogy in effective teaching & learning.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of vocational education in preparing students for the dynamic job market. Dr. Pant stressed that vocational education should be an integral part of the curriculum to equip students with practical skills and enhance their employability.

Chitkara University spokespersons also delivered impressive presentations showcasing their commitment to promoting innovation and excellence in education. They shared the university’s latest initiatives, including cutting-edge research and collaborations aimed at further elevating the quality of education in the region. Dr Parul, Assistant Dean from Department of Education, presented a presentation about the achievements of Chitkara University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Vani, Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, Chitkara University.
