This Too Shall Pass!!

Dear Family,

These are extraordinary times and I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are doing well and keeping safe.

As you would be aware, we decided to transition to remote learning from 3rd week of March in keeping with our goal to minimize the number of interactions on campus, slow the rate of transmission, and protect our community. We thank you once again for your continued support during these most difficult of circumstances and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We understand there were personal, logistical, and financial challenges to these extraordinary measures. And we would really like to applaud each and every one of you for standing up during that time of chaos and keeping the momentum for teaching and learning going during that time. It was really a big learning curve for all of us at the University and we came out with flying colours all because of your commitment and hard work. We really cannot thank you enough for coming together as one family and riding through that initial transition period.

Our students, their well-being and their progression in future stages of life should continue to be at the forefront of our thinking as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. In keeping up with the academic disruption since last month, we have decided to prepone the annual 2 weeks Summer Vacation and the same will be starting now on April 4th and continue till April 19th (subject to change due to rapidly changing environment).

Students too have been given summer vacation from April 4th through May 4th. Hopefully, they can be present on campus from May 5th unless there is any further change in circumstances in the interim.

During this lockdown and subsequent summer break, you are requested to work on NAAC data if required. There is also a great opportunity to increase and consolidate your research publications.

I realize one is inundated with depressing news and messages from all quarters these days and it is hard to remain positive in its midst. But let us not get so lost in all the negative thoughts that we forget to count our blessings and lose our optimism. Let us feed our faith instead of watering our fears. Fear is a weak energy; it is faith that turns tides and brings about miracles. God is kind and there are boundless reasons to be full of hope EVEN now! He is looking out for all of us. Look around and you’ll find enough evidence of His love.

So, please be safe, make the most of this time at home with your loved ones and stay strong! It may be a little stormy now, but it can’t rain forever. Things will get better and this too shall pass.

MAY GOD BLESS US ALL ,

DR. ASHOK K CHITKARA
