Panel discussion on ‘Mentoring in Higher Education’ to make the Teachers’ Day celebrations

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, a dynamic panel discussion on Mentoring in Higher Education was organized by Chitkara Centre For Academic Excellence, which proved to be an enlightening experience for all the faculty members. The importance of mentoring for students cannot be denied, especially during their college days, as these are the years when they try to find their feet and prepare themselves for the years ahead. This special session was organised as a mark of tribute to Chitkara Faculty on the special occasion of Teachers’ Day. Such endeavors taken by the university is with the aim of faculty enrichment.

The panel discussion was graced with the presence of three experts, Dr. Meenu Singh, Professor of Pediatrics PGIMER, Dr Dhaval Mody, Managing Director Edupsyche.in and Dr Komila Parthi, Associate Professor- Department Psychology DAV College, moderated by Dr Preethi Pradahan, Dean, School of Health Sciences. This interactive session clarified lots of doubts on the minds of the faculty members, who also are the able mentors for the students. The experts explained the term mentoring along with highlighting the difference between mentoring and counseling. They also emphasized the correct approach of mentoring and where to draw a line. The audience members were also acquainted with terms like Direct, Indirect, Cross and Reverse Mentoring.

Overall, the session proved to be really informative for all those present.
