CSE Students make it to the “Top 6 Teams” of the India’s biggest “Smart India Hackathon’s Grand Finale”

Chetan Kaushik, Rohit Gupta, Sachin Arora, Chetanya Chopra, Damanpreet Kaur, Ruchita, Computer Wizards of Chitkara Department of Computer Science & Engineering honoured by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Madhu Chitkara for series of achievements.

The Team made it to the “Top 6 Teams” of the India’s biggest “Smart India Hackathon’s Grand Finale” at New Delhi. It was the Biggest Hackathon organized by the Government of India. More than 7000+ teams registered in 28 different industries and only around 1200 teams having around 10000+ participants were short-listed for the Grand Finale.

Participants from different states of India had gathered at 26 different cities had to compete by working non-stop for 36 hours. The project made by Chitkara Team provided a solution for a Real-World Problem faced by the Ministry of External Affairs, India. The solution ensured secure access of emails and notes on smartphones and provided an end to end encryption system for all the emails sent through the device. Out of 20+ teams, the Team secured a position among the Top 6 and were honoured with a trophy, medals, and Certificates for making it in the Top 6.

Chetan Kaushik, Rohit Gupta and Sachin Arora participated in Advitiya, IIT Ropar Tech Fest and secured the 2nd position in their main event – Hackamania – the 15-hour hackathon where they made an android app that helps the person in emergency situation by giving an alert to their contacts in the form of message and automated voice call along with a link where they can track their contact live and help them. The team was honored with Certificate of excellence along with some goodies and cash prize.
