Chitkara University holds Students’ Congressional Debate

A students’ Congressional Debate was held at Pulitzer Hall, Chitkara University, Punjab Campus. The day began with the introductions of the presiding jury members Mr. Imran Ahmed Ali, Ms. Madhur Singh.

The introductory part was all about introducing the multifarious portfolios held by the Ministers, Chief Ministers and Leaders of Opposition from the various states who were present in a folio of large number of delegates present. To get the ball rolling, Chief Minister of Rajasthan came up with a serious urge of scrutinizing the diplomatic relations with the Pakistan and further the debate was continued by the Chief Ministers of various states expressing mingled, logical and tangled views about their respective concerns. Point of Order and Point of Information were about cyber attacks, spanking and disturbing relations of India with neighboring countries, Indigenous defence development and changing economic agenda of the country. In the eleventh hour, one of the delegates introduced moderated caucus in which the ‘Challenges and Threats to Foreign Policies and Defense’ were debated.

In conclusion, Ms. Madhur Singh expressed the opinion to discuss the unexplored topic of ‘Climatic Change’ where all the delegates were permitted to express their views. Overall, the day was quite interesting with the serious issues being debated.
