Face++ - Pay with your FaceThere are a number of ways by which we can make cashless transactions today. If we go back little bit in the past we will notice that cashless mode of making financial transactions have been dominated by credit cards, debit cards and wire transfers. But today we have options like online wallets provided by various e-commerce platforms, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin etc. In all these methods, financial institutions have been pushing all limits to ensure security and authenticity of our financial transactions so that fraud don't take place. In this world of digital financial transactions, Face Recognition Technology is gaining a lot of momentum. One such example is Face++ a China based Startup that is now pioneer in face recognition technology so much so that it is used by financial unit of Alibaba - Ant Financial, China's largest online payment platform. Face++ has an interesting feature which allow customers to authenticate their transactions with a selfie, it is called 'Smile to Pay'. Face++ provide APIs (Application Programming Interface), SDKs (Software Development Kit) and custom cloud based services to the users for their face recognition technology. Face++ APIs could be integrated into various other photography and entertainment applications. Face++ can discover faces with 99% accuracy. Over hundred and twenty million people in China use Face++ app to verify their payments. The technology behind this application is artificial intelligence & deep learning and involves following steps - Face Detection to perceive faces through pictures and recordings; Face Searching to discover comparable appearances to another face. And also to identify the identity of the wanted face in the crowd; Face Comparing is utilized as a part of face-based client check and individual identification. When customers add their images to the system, it integrates facial biometric statistics and tracks as much as 83 distinctive key factors on the face from numerous angles at one time. Identification verification takes place straight away with an exceptionally high accuracy. The other applications of this technology is in smart phone industry where it could be used for album photos processing, face unlock (we have already seen it in latest Apple phone), automotive industry for car owner identification, fatigue detection in drivers etc. It could also be used in online marketing, education industry, by the state in solving crimes etc. By: Ms. Monika Parmar - Asst.
