Foreign nationals, PIO cardholders, OCI (Dual citizens), NRI students and NRI sponsored students can apply under the category of International Students.

Admission Procedure

Please note that the Office of International Affairs (OIA) is the nodal agency which handles the admissions of foreign students for all programs offered by the University. Any student wishing to join any of the University programs should first write to OIA and follow the instructions to secure admission.

Fill up the application carefully without missing any detail. If the marks are not known or not available at the time of filling the application, please indicate "Results are awaited" in the marks/grade column. Candidates whose results are generally released latest earlier than June may send the forecast/predicted results. It is expected that the forecast/predicted results will be in the same line as the actual results, then the provisional admission will be confirmed. However, the application will be cancelled and any fee immediately refunded by the University when the candidate fails.

Eligibility

  • Citizens of all countries (except India) along with Person of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can apply under the Foreign/NRI category. Furthermore, candidates must possess a minimum qualification to the program of their choice, their basic educational qualification equivalence check should be cleared from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Then only their formal registration will be done and provisional admission letter issued.
  • Copy of the passport of the applicant (Personal details page).
  • Self-attested copies of the previous academic transcripts.
  • English language proficiency test (if applicable) - IELTS / TOEFL / PTE / Cambridge English.

Selection and Enrollment Process

Enrollment is the process of verifying the original certificates, obtaining declarations from the parent/student and issuing the Admit Card, all of which are done on campus. The University will send a communication to the conditionally admitted students to report on a specific date for completing the admission formalities. The candidates are advised to look at the website for the exact date of commencement of their classes.

Registration

Students are advised to reach Chitkara University at least 2-3 days prior to the commencement of classes and report to the Office of International Affairs to complete the above admission formalities. The following documents in original are to be submitted at the time of registration:

  • Degree or Pass Certificate of the qualifying examination
  • Grade/mark sheet of the qualifying examination
  • Translated versions of all documents, if they are not in English
  • Copy of Passport with a valid student visa (Original will be returned after verification)
  • Equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities wherever applicable
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent Passport-size photographs - 15 Nos. (May be required at different departments)
Only after all admission formalities are completed will the student be permitted to move into the allotted hostels.

Security Registration

It is part of the normal mandatory process that within the stipulated timeframe of arrival in India, the student has to register his/her name with the police in the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The timeframe may vary from 24 hours to 14 days of arrival depending on the country of origin. A student with a PIO card also must register at the FRRO. Only OCI card holders need not register. Chitkara University would only provide necessary assistance in this regard. The applicable immigration processing fees and other related expenses have to be additionally borne by the student.

Program Change

No change of program is allowed after the issue of the formal admission letter.

Support and Services for International Students

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) is a nodal point to contact for any query regarding admissions of international students or for study abroad programs. Students can also be enrolled under Exchange Programs for which there should be a Memorandum of Understanding.

  • Admissions - Is based on academic performance in the Class XII or equivalent examination or a qualifying test/interview with respective councils governing the Engineering, Medicine, Allied Health Sciences and Architecture education. (The admission procedure, application form (online as well as hard copy), fees are well‑differentiated for international students.
  • Reception and orientation - New International students are welcome to register with the OIA to receive important information about settling into their new environment. The orientation program also includes trips and tours around campus and into the city.
  • English Conversation Program - If English isn't your first language, this is your opportunity to improve your English language skills.
  • Cross-cultural counseling - Our cross-cultural counselor possesses cultural sensitivity and works with students on personal issues, like how to balance studies, health problems, homesickness or self-esteem.
  • Social and cultural events - The OIA offers students a taste of Indian culture and organises various events like hosting cultural and social activities.

Examination and Award of Degree

The process of examination, grading and award of the degree is no different from that of Indian students.
